HIGHNOTE / SAVANT RECORDS proudly announce the release of the second album by jazz vocalist PAMELA LUSS. Your Eyes, which features the legendary saxophonist Houston Person, was produced by Todd Barkan of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The new disc includes Pamela’s fresh new take on timeless melodies by Harold Arlen (“Over the Rainbow”), Cole Porter’s (“Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”) and Stephen Sondheim (“Send in the Clowns”) along with pop songs like the Oleta Adams hit “Get Here” and the Burt Bacharach classic “The Look of Love.”

According to Jazz Improv, "Pamela Luss is a jazz vocalist to look out for. She has a style that is grounded in tradition yet modern sounding. Your Eyes is certainly an out-of-the-park home run." She will perform selections from the CD at the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon (September 2), Feinstein’s at Loews Regency (September 30), and the Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center (November 6).
Your Eyes features the legendary tenor saxophonist Houston Person as well as Aaron Heick on alto saxophone and flute, Hendrick Meurkens on harmonica, John di Martino and Jon Cowherd on piano, Richie Goods on bass and Greg Hutchinson on drums. Arrangements are provided by John di Martino, Barney McAll, Myron Walden and Mike Moreno.
Upon its release, Your Eyes immediately jumped to number three out of one hundred on Amazon.com’s “Vocal Jazz - Bestselling New & Future Releases” list, and also hit number eight in France on the “Top-Ten Best Selling Jazz Albums” chart on iTunes. Gaining international recognition, Pamela was featured on the cover of the Japanese music magazine Jazzyell in March 2006.
Will Friedwald of the New York Sun called the CD “a very special collection of tunes as sung by a very special talent. In fact, I can’t think of another record by any other singer of Pamela Luss’s approximate generation that I’ve enjoyed so much.” In a rave review of the new CD, In Tune International Magazine said “Pamela continues to prove that she is a most innovative performer. Here’s a handful of 12 songs masterfully delivered by a wonderful singer. Pamela has a knack for enhancing and enriching the already familiar music territories that we have loved throughout the years.”
Pamela’s first major break as a vocalist occurred during one of her annual concerts at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall where she was heard by the well-known saxophonist Vincent Herring. He offered to produce her first album, There’s Something About You I Don’t Know, which features an all-star line-up, including Mulgrew Miller, Tom Harrell, Jeremy Pelt, Steve Turre, Russell Malone and Richie Goods. The album was released by Savant/HighNote to unanimously enthusiastic reviews in 2006.
Pamela has performed at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center as part of the Diet Coke Women’s Jazz Festival, Sweet Rhythm and Estia Cantina in The Hamptons, amongst other clubs throughout New York. She was personally selected by actor and filmmaker Matthew Modine to perform at a recent movie premiere.
